You choose it yourself. We give you a list of places we trust near the base and help you book them at no charge.

Paid separately, as you go

  • Lodging — €45 to €150 a night, your choice, six nights.
  • Food — roughly €40–60 a day: lunch on the trail and, if you wish, breakfast and dinner with the group.
  • The festive meal on Sunday — about €90.
  • Going out to the whales and dolphins — a private catamaran at €1,500 for the group, split between participants: roughly €95–125 each.
  • Airport transfer — €35 one way, if you would rather not travel on your own.
  • Flights to Madeira and travel insurance.

The whole week, flights aside, usually comes to €1,700–2,500 — the difference is in your lodging and in how often you eat with the group. We show this openly so that nothing is a surprise once you are here.

The price covers the week's programme, transport to the trails, the guide, trail fees, the sauna, materials and the organisation. Confession, Communion and spiritual guidance are a ministry: they are never paid for.

What is and isn't included

Included in the price

  • all seven days of the programme: prayers, readings, evening and personal conversations;
  • three walking trails with transport;
  • a certified guide on the trails and all trail fees;
  • the mountain sauna and swimming;
  • the journal, the prayer rope and the texts of the week;
  • 40 days of support after the retreat.

Not included

  • accommodation — you choose and pay for it, €45–150 a night;
  • food — lunch on the trail, breakfast and dinner with the group: roughly €40–60 a day;
  • the festive meal on Sunday — about €90;
  • the whale and dolphin trip — €1,500 for a private catamaran for the group, roughly €95–125 each;
  • airport transfer — €35 one way;
  • flights to Madeira (FNC), travel insurance and personal spending;
  • extra days on the island after Sunday.

Why it works this way

€100 a day is the programme itself: a priest who leads the whole week personally, a group of up to 16 rather than 20–30, transport and a guide on the trails, trail fees, the sauna, materials and 40 days of support afterwards. Lodging, food and the boat you pay for as you go and choose yourself: one person stays in a guest house at €45, another in a hotel at €150; one takes a picnic, another eats at a restaurant. That way you are not paying for our choices.

Payment and cancellation

How to pay

After your application and the call with the priest you receive a link for a 30% deposit of the €700. The balance is due 30 days before the start. Payment in instalments is possible. Accommodation you pay directly to the hotel, food on the spot, and the boat we collect before the trip.

If your plans change

Full refund if you cancel 60 days ahead or more. Between 30 and 59 days, half is refunded. Later than that, we move your payment to another group.
